Right after box breathing, at 5:05 AM, I train. The structure is the same most days: warm-up, dumbbell work, core, stretching.
The structure
- Warm-up — getting the body ready before load goes on it
- Dumbbell workout — the main strength work of the session
- Core workout — every session, not treated as optional
- Stretching — closing the session the same way it opens: deliberately
Why form over heavy weight
I’m not training to move the heaviest weight I can. I’m training to still be doing this, properly, years from now — which means form and consistency matter more to me than how much is on the dumbbells. A session done correctly at a lighter weight beats a session done carelessly at a heavier one, especially when the goal is showing up again tomorrow.
Why this happens before food, not after
Training on an empty stomach, right after breathing and before breakfast, is deliberate — it’s the first hard thing I do every day, done before I’ve had the chance to talk myself out of it or trade it for something easier. The recovery shake and meals that follow are built specifically to support this timing.
This is the training half of my health philosophy — discipline over motivation, consistency over perfection. For the food side of recovery, see My Budget-Friendly Diet Plan. For the full morning, see My Morning Routine.
